For this first Thankful Thursday, I want to recognize my tribe. It’s a bit unconventional as tribes go. I don’t have a big group of friends that I hang out with on a regular basis, I don’t do Friendsgiving, I don’t have girls night out. I think all of those things are great, I’d love to have those types of friendships. In fact there have been many times that I have wished I had those things in my life, even felt sorry for myself that I don’t.
But while I may not be surrounded with close friends that are part of my everyday life, I do have THE BEST tribe a girl could ask for.
My tribe starts with my family, who are my biggest supporters. My hilarious and thoughtful husband, awesome and goofy kids that keep me on my toes, incredible parents and a sweet baby sister and her cute family.
I have my champions, my prayer warriors and supporters that have lifted me up through my whole cancer journey. Who have read my blog posts, brought meals to my family, left gift baskets, met me for coffee, encouraged my husband and kids, sent me thoughtful messages and have come alongside me to champion me in my battle this past year.
I have three incredible friends, none of which even live in the same town as I do. Each one of these friendships is different, they all know me, who I am at my core and they still love me. They laugh with me, encourage me, challenge me to follow my dreams and purpose, they are good examples to me, they are giving and they all bring something so beautiful and valuable to my life. I don’t see them everyday, sometimes it can be months or longer, we don’t talk everyday or even once a week, but I can’t imagine my life without each of their influence and friendship.
My tribe doesn’t do Friendsgiving or game night together, but they are a beautiful tribe and I am so thankful for them, and for you.
